What is Outreach?
The role of Outreach is to act as the liaison between WCCA and community organizations in need. The goal is to support these organizations by mobilizing the WCCA membership through Age Group coordinated activities and donations. Each year organizations are chosen to be recipients of our efforts. Whether we're creating a craft for distribution to the elderly or donating books and toys to youngsters, it's all a part of the spirit of giving and taking care of those in need.
Supported Organizations:

Horizons for Homeless Children
Horizons for Homeless Children works to improve the lives of homeless children and their families. Horizons provides homeless children in Massachusetts with nurturing stimulation and opportunities for early education and play that all children need to learn and grow in healthy ways. Horizons offers high quality childcare to homeless children.
Sandra’s Lodge is an emergency intake family shelter providing temporary housing in Waltham for up to 35 homeless single mothers and their children. Families work on issues relevant to homelessness and securing permanent housing with the help of the SL staff and housing advocates.
All residents are involved with the day to day activities in the shelter and the programmed support services. Referrals to other social services, legal and mental health programs are provided as needed. When residents leave for permanent housing, SL offers a follow-up support program to assist them with the transition to independent living.
Weston’s COA advocates for and helps meet the needs that are special to seniors in our town---for resources, sense of community, and coping during vulnerable times. COA, located in the Community Center, provides numerous and diverse opportunities for seniors in Weston including activities and classes. FACT: 20% of Weston residents are 60 years plus! They also run a food pantry and is interested in donations of food as well as financial contributions. Please see below for these food items.
The food pantry is located in the Council on Aging and is interested in donations of food as well as financial contributions. As the food pantry serves mostly individuals, as opposed to larger households, it is suggested that you purchase several smaller/single serve items rather than one large size package.
Some of the items needed are:
Canned or jarred goods
Packaged Goods - Cereal (15 oz/ or small box): Raisin Bran, Cheerios, Shredded Wheat, Rice Krispies, Total or Cornflakes; also Maypo, Cream of Wheat or Rice, small canister of oatmeal - Pasta or rice (8 oz box)
