WCCA Outreach - Organization Wide Donation Events
2008-2009
Purpose: Our goal with WCCA donation events is to provide much needed support from our membership to local organizations. We have chosen events that we hope will easily fit into the lives of our membership, making it easy for families to contribute to these organizations. We have also tried to choose concepts that are easy for preschool children to understand, in hopes of allowing parents to involve their children, providing an opportunity for teaching kids about community giving.
During the 2006-2007 WCCA year, we made a change to our donation drive method. In the past, the age groups were asked to host multiple events which would serve as mini-donation drives. Two years ago, we decided to test out holding membership-wide donation drives with a central collection point. It turned out to be very successful. Therefore, we will continue this process for our donation drives. Outreach will run 5 organization-wide donation drives to benefit Sandra's Lodge in Waltham and Horizons for Homeless Children in Boston.
The WCCA will have a donation drop-off location at the Weston Community Center. Our hope is that this will make it easy for families to contribute and also encourage non-member families to donate.
The Outreach Co-Chairs will check the box regularly to empty and store the contents.
